The battle line has finally been drawn between the gladiators in the Edo State governorship election as Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, has officially joined the Peoples Democratic Party.
Both Obaseki and the PDP on Friday declared accordingly.
The party tweeted, “The Governor of Edo State, H. E. Governor Obaseki has defected to our great Party, the @OfficialPDPNig. The declaration was made this afternoon at the state Secretariat of our party in Benin city, Edo State. Power to the people.”
For Obaseki, it is time to alert all Nigerians that he has “become a member of PDP.”
It is now clear that the battle is going to be between Obaseki and the All Progressives Congress’ candidate, which is very likely to be Osagie Ize-Iyamu, whom the APC leadership, especially Obaseki’s predecessor, Adams Oshiomhole, prefers.
Indeed, there have been reports that the two other aspirants in the APC primary race with Ize-Iyamu have withdrawn for him.
