The Nigerian Medical Association has said that the much-awaited drug from Magadascar, known to be potent in the treatment of coronavirus, must first be clinically tested before it is used in Nigeria.

The drug is now in the country but, like NAFDAC, the NMA is insisting that it must first be subjected to testing.

The doctors’ association President, Dr Francis Faduyile, made this known on Monday, while speaking on a programme on TVC.

He said, “We must ensure that there are no long or short term side effects. We must remember that coronavirus has about 15 per cent fatality rate. Many people infected will still one way or the other survive. So we have to be careful about any wonder drug we want to use.”
