The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, has described the late Dr. Amuda Aluko as a respected elder statesman and opinion moulder, who contributed greatly to the development of Kwara and the nation in general.
In a statement issued in Abuja on Friday, the Minister said Aluko was a community leader, who put the interest of the people of Kwara at the centre of his actions.
Mohammed specifically hailed Aluko’s selfless contributions when he was a member of the National Reconciliation Committee and to the medical profession.
‘It was therefore not a surprise that he bagged the title of the Tafida of Ilorin, one of the highest and most respected titles in the Ilorin Emirate, in addition to being bestowed with a national honour,” Mohammed said.
He condoled with the family of the deceased as well as the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, the government and people of Kwara on the demise of the foremost medical practitioner.
The Minister prayed that Allah will grant the deceased Al Janna Firdaus and grant his family the strength to bear their irreparable loss.
The late 85-year-old Aluko, who hailed from the Apabiekun family in Ilorin West Local Government Area of Kwara State, was the Tafida of Ilorin.
A family source said that the elder statesman died in the early hours of Friday.
He was the Chief Medical Director and Chief Executive Officer of Geri Alimi Hospital, Ilorin.
