A member of the House of Representatives, Rep. Woke Oke (PDP-Osun) has called on the Federal Government to give grants to Oyo and Osun states to manage the spread of COVID-19.

Oke who made the call in a statement to newsmen on Monday in Abuja, said that the states had effectively managed the limited resources available to them.

The lawmaker, who represents Obokun/Oriade Federal Constituency of Osun, said that it was time for the Federal Government to lend a helping hand to the states.

Oke, who had earlier donated N15 million worth of bags of rice to Osun, charged other state governors to emulate the leadership style displayed by the governors in the states.

“These states have utilised the resources available to them very well to fight the COVID-19 pandemic.

“I am calling on the Federal Government to give special grant to the states to enable them to combat the pandemic head-on.

“Their prudent management of the resources at their disposal is commendable; we have to collectively combat this virus without playing dirty politics with its eradication,” he said.

Oke, who is the House Committee Chairman on Public Accounts and a member of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), commended Gov. Seyi Makinde for his method and approach in the management of COVID-19.
