Wael Jerro, a Lebanese who advertised a Nigerian woman for sale on Facebook, has been arrested.
Many Nigerian girls who travel to Lebanon have come back with tales of oppression they suffer but the man appeared to have gone extreme when he advertised the lady for sale.
Jerro had put up a post on a Facebook page, ‘Buy and Sell in Lebanon’, advertising Busari Peace, 30, with her Nigerian passport.
Heis king price was $1,000.
But according to the Chairman, Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, the Lebanese government has arrested him.
She tweeted on Thursday: “Breaking news on Trafficked Nigerian girl for sale on Facebook by a Lebanese !The Lebenese Government just announced the arrest of Mr. WAEL JERRO for onward prosecution against criminal sales of a human, a young Nigerian girl.”
She added: “A big thanks to the Nigerian mission in Lebanon for swinging into immediate action.”
