Lagos-based lawyer, Ebun Adegboruwa, has said that Monday’s trial of popular actress, Funke Akindele is null and void.
According to him, the Lagos State’s prosecution did not follow due process as the law it operated on has allegedly not been documented.
Akindele and her husband were sentenced to 14-day community service for holding a party in spite of the COVID-19 lockdown.

“1. (1). Notwithstanding any provision to the contrary in any Law in the State, no regulation shall have effect unless laid before and approved by the House of Assembly.
1. (2) The regulation shall be approved by a resolution of members of the House of Assembly in accordance with the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
3. As from the commencement of this Law, all regulations made pursuant to the provisions of any enactment in the State shall be published in the Official Gazette after its approval by the House of Assembly.”
