The Bauchi State Government on Friday commenced fumigation of public places to curtail the spread of COVID-19 in the state.
Mr Hamisu Muazu, Commissioner for Environment and Housing, said during the commencement of the exercise that the state government had earmarked N10 million for it.
Muazu explained that the fumigation which would last for five days was designed to cover strategic locations within the metropolis.
“We are basically here today to begin fumigation against the spread of coronavirus in the state.
“The state government has supported us to conduct this exercise as it earmarked the sum of N10 million for its execution.

“Gov. Bala Mohammed has given assurance that he will support the exercise to keep citizens away from the deadly virus,” the commissioner said.
He further stressed that the exercise would be extended to other parts of the state as part of government’s efforts to tackle the spread of coronovirus.
He said that over 300 personnel had been engaged for the exercise and called on stakeholders to support it to ensure its success.
Some of the places mapped out to be fumigated include Government House, the state secretariat, CBN roundabout, Wunti Market, Muda Lawal Market and Central Market.
Others are Ahmadu Bello Way, Bauchi Airport, Wunti Traffic, Jumu’at Mosques, churches, Central Motor Park, State House of Assembly complex and Ministry of Health premises.
