Another two Coronavirus patients have been confirmed dead in Lagos after 70 new cases were recorded in the state, with 16 others announced in other states.

This brings to 16 the number of COVID-19 related deaths in Lagos.

The state Commissioner for Health, Professor Akin Abayomi, who disclosed this on Twitter this morning, said the first patient was a 45-year-old man who returned from India in January. The second patient was a 36-year-old female with severe underlying health condition. She had no history of travel or contact with any COVID19 confirmed case.

The rise is due to communal testing that Lagos State Government has begun, with the Health Commissioner, Prof Akin saying test centres have now been opened in each local government.
