If Loko was an innocent, low-profile town before Monday, march 10, 2020, it has suddenly become a celebrity place.
This is as a result of a big guest it has just received. Interestingly, the guest has come to live in its bosom for life, thanks to the political tradition that says any traditional ruler banished must remain wherever he is sent throughput his or her life. Or, at least, the person cannot return to his former abode again.
The big guest is the dethroned Emir of Kano, Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi.
He arrived his new abode around 3 a.m. Tuesday morning.
Alhaji Abubakar Ahmed Sabo, the traditional ruler of Loko, who confirmed the development, said that Sanusi arrived his palace “around 3 a.m. on March 10″.
The first class traditional ruler, however, said that the press would not be allowed to interview the dethroned emir.
“Yes, Emir Sanusi is in my palace. He arrived this morning around 3 a.m., but no one will be allowed to speak with him,” he said.
Loko is a town in Nasarawa Local Government Area of Nasarawa State in the middle belt region or North central zone of Nigeria.It is found along the River Benue bank. The town is a mini-port, along the River Benue, for the conveyance of export materials to the eastern and western parts of Nigeria.
The main ethnic group and the inhabitants of Loko town, are the Nupe, Hausa, Bassa, Igbira, Agatu, Afo and Kanuri.
The main activities engaged by the inhabitants of Loko town are farming and fishing.
NAN recalls that the Kano State Government dethroned Sanusi on Tuesday, March 9.
The government hinged its action on the former CBN governor’s “outright disregard for the state government and Kano Emirate’s traditional norms”.
Sanusi is expected to be a deposed king like no other.
Although he has said that he is accepting his fate as the will of God, his celebrity status is expected to manifest soon.
