On Thursday, President Bolsonaro’s press secretary, Fabio Wajngarten was diagnosed with the virus following their trip to the US for a meeting with President Donald Trump, who later hosted a dinner for them at Mar-a-Lago in Florida on Saturday.

After Mr. Wajngarten was diagnosed on Thursday, President Trump told reporters: “I’m not concerned,” but White House press secretary, Stephanie Grisham, has played down Mr. Trump’s level of exposure.

She said in a statement on Thursday: “Both the president and vice president had almost no interactions with the individual who tested positive and do not require being tested at this time.”
