Ghana Chief Imam suspends public salat

Ghana’s Chief Imam, Sheikh Osman Nuhu Shrabutu, has asked Muslims in the country t start observing prayers (salat) at home.

Ghana currently has six recorded cases of coronavirus.
Ghana Web reports that the Islamic leader, in a statement, said the suspension wass in line with President Akufo-Addo’s ban on all social gatherings including funerals, festivals, all religious activities, conferences and all other events that call for a mass gathering of people.

The Chief Imam also noted that the restriction of public gathering was in accordance with protocols enshrined in the Quran to preserve and ensure healthy lives.
