Prof. Yohana Izam, Vice Chancellor, Plateau State University (PLASU), says the university will soon establish faculty of law and faculty of environmental sciences.
Izam disclosed this in Bokkos on Monday during the opening of financial bidding by contractors aspiring to handle the faculty projects.
He said that the two projects were part of the high impact intervention fund approved by the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETfund) for the university.
When on stream, the two new faculties would bring the number of faculties in the university to six.
PLASU currently has four faculties namely, Natural and Applied Sciences, Arts, Social Sciences, and management Studies.
The vice chancellor said the project was a N 3 billion intervention aimed at addressing felt needs of the institution.
“The two faculty projects are a fall out of the high impact intervention approved for the university by TETfund.
“We are eager to have the two faculties functional as soon as possible so that people in this parts can take advantage of the opportunities they will provide,” he said.
Izam said that successful contractors would be closely monitored to ensure timely and quality of the projects.
“Our works, procurement and bursary staff would work in synergy with the contractors toward achieving excellent delivery,” he said.
News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Mr Raphael Rume, Secretary, Tenders Committee and Head of Procurement, conducted the bid opening process.
NAN further reports that a total of 11 companies participated in the process.(NAN)
