Media celebrity, Noble Igwe, has come under heavy criticism after tweeting that parents who fail to prepare for their old age should be on their own.
According to him, children of such people should nt bother their heads over it.
“The biggest scam ever invented by parents was/is making their children send them money in their own age. I repeat, you don’t owe your parents anything. They were here before you and should have prepared for old age. Parents are always taking and taking. Stop the pressure,” he noted.
Here are some of the comments greeting Igwe’s submission (sic) on Linda Ikeji:
JBoy: “Noble Igwe, is your Twitter account hacked or are you high on something illegal?… I can’t believe this is coming from you… I am so disappointed and have lost almost all respect for you… you may come from a broken home or maybe your parents didn’t care for you but don’t generalize with your own case… some parents (both literate and illiterate) spend their entire active life providing and training their children… maybe they shouldn’t have done so… so that they could save all that up for old age… even if your parents didn’t train you educationally, I am sure someone played their role in your life, otherwise you wouldn’t be this literate to type this rubbish you did in English or your any other language… I am avoiding anything NOBLE IGWE henceforth because they’ll be coming from a man with wrong perception of life and care for humankind…”
Anonymous: “Since the day he said women dont have to cook at home on christmas day, wihout him giving solution as to who will cook, i knew he was a clout chaser. I remember when my parents refused to buy a car, rather they invested the money in our education, they made the sacrifice at that time even though our neighbors who were thier juniors at work were buying cars in our comunity. Today you expect me to ignore them? They deserve better.”
Anonymous: “Why is it only Africans that copy what the Europeans do? You don’t see other countries like China, Japan etc copy European way of life. As a matter of fact Japan is one of the richest countries in the world, they are rich but they still look after their old. Send a chinese to Europe to study and at the end of his or studies they will return home a Chinese but send an African and he will return home thinking he is an European. Sad!”
