Spokesperson of all electricity providers called DISCos, Sunday Oduntan, has said that the companies have problems satisfying their customers because the Federal Government and the father institution – NEPA/PHCN – lied to the DISCoS in the agreement they have.
According to him, the government and other agencies in the chain are also not effectively playing their roles.
Oduntan said this on Friday doing a programme on TVC, arguing that government also had representatives on the boards of the companies.
He said the number of meters they were asked to provide in the agreement were far less than what the market needed.
Oduntan also noted that the DISCoS had the capacity to supply 6,88 megawatts to people but they had never got up to 6,000 from distributors.
He put the electricity being generated at over 7,000 megawatt and not the 13,000 promoted in some quarters.
And on the claim that the government has been subsidizing them, he said, “Discos has never received any subsidy since 2013.”
