An Igbosere Magistrates’ Court, Lagos, on Monday ordered a 30-year-old driver, Bob Badamosi, to stay at the correctional centre for one year for stealing his employer’s car worth N2.6 million.
The Magistrate, Mrs A.A. Runsewe, sentenced him, after his plea of guilty to a count charge of stealing preferred against him and presentation of facts of the case by the police.
Runsewe sentenced Badamosi without an option of fine and ordered that the sentence would take effect from the date of his arraignment.
Earlier, the Prosecutor, Sgt. Tope Adegbite, told the court that the convict committed the offence on Jan. 21 at the Nigerian Stock Exchange, Marina, Lagos Island.
Adegbite said that Badamasi stole a Blue Honda Accord car with registration No. APP788EA and Chasis No. IHCP 26838A809355, valued at N2.6 million.
He said that the stolen car belonged to Lukman Adekola, the complaint.
According to the prosecutor, Badamosi was employed on Jan. 6, by the complainant and he stole the car on Jan. 21, just 15 days after he was employed.
“Badamosi drove the car from Lagos to Port Harcourt after droping his employer at the Nigerian Stock Exchange, Lagos.
“He was about selling the car when police arrested him,” prosecutor told the court.
Adegbite said that the offence committed contravened Section 287 (7), (10), of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
