The Independent National Electoral Commission has declared the Peoples Democratic Party’s candidate, Douyi Diri, as the winner of the Bayelsa State governorship election.
This happened on Friday following Thursday’s rule by the Supreme Court, which nullified the election of the All Progressives Congress’s David Lyon, due to the document forgery committed by his deputy.
Declaring winner in Abuja, INEC’s Chairman, Mamood Yakubu, said the commission deducted APC’s 146,999 votes, now wasted, leaving it with PDP’s over 143, which qualified him geographically and politically for the victory.
