Pipeline explosion rocks Abule-Egba in Lagos

There is an ongoing pipeline explosion around Ile-Epo, in Abule Egba area of Lagos state which started on Sunday night, January 19. The explosion, witnesses said, may likely be from a vandalised petroleum pipeline belonging to the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), situated in the area, Daily Trust reports. The acting coordinator of Lagos territorial office of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), two dead bodies were already recovered, and several articulated vehicles destroyed as the fire raged on.
The fire outbreak which was reportedly caused by a vandalised pipeline in the area sent people scampering for safety as several are feared killed. The newspaper reports that relevant emergency agencies have been deployed to the area to contain the fire disaster.
