Bariga boys have come out in unison after the New Year holiday to celebrate carnival.
The event, which took place at Olokodana Street, was a joint effort of youths who have come together to celebrate with one another.
Children were not left out in the Carnival as dancing competition, bouncing castle, among others, had been initiated by the organizers.
One of the well-known Bariga DJs, DJ Spirit, had been the Carnival DJ to the surprise of some participants.
“DJ Spirit was the DJ of the day. We didn’t actually expect him. He used to be known as Wizkkd is known.
“The Carnival started by 10 a.m. for children and for adults by 10 p.m. till 6 in the morning.
“It was really a great event, to be precise. I didn’t leave my shop because of the excitement I had. At some point I had to take of my shirt so I could dance well.
“I went back into my shop by 5 this morning. The Carnival was without fight,” said one of the participants.
At about 8 in the morning on January 3, the adults had already made arrangements concerning who would be the masters of ceremony and what kinds of food and drink should be given since the event consisted of children, youths and adults.They also thought it worthwhile that police should be situated at some strategic ends of the street in case of any eventuality.
