Winner of the 2019 edition of Ballon d’Or, Lionel Messi, has argued that Liverpool player, Said Mane, deserved a better deal than the fourth position in the contest.
According to him, Mane had a great year and ought to have scored higher.
Based on Messi’s argument, it is either Mane ended number 2 or three, meaning he ought to have displaced either Virgil van Dijik or Cristiano Ronaldo who came second and third respectively.
Definitely Messi is saying Mane performed better than Ronaldo.

He said in an interview with Canal +:

‘It’s a shame to see Mane finish in fourth place.

‘But I think there have been a lot of great players this year. That’s why it was difficult to choose a particular player. But I chose Sadio Mane (for The Best award) because he’s a player that I like.

‘Mane achieved a great year that was exceptional for the entire Liverpool team. That’s why I chose him.

‘I repeat, there were a lot of very great players this year, so the choice was difficult.’
