A student who allegedly stole a phone is now facing the court.
The police on Thursday arraigned him at a Grade I Area Court in Mpape, Abuja, for allegedly stealing one Infinix Hot 7 handset and three itel phones valued at N53,000.
The defendant, Promise Jonathan, is facing one-count charge of theft.
The Prosecutor, M. M Austin, told the court that on Nov. 22 that the defendant went into the complainant’s shop and stole the above mentioned handsets.
Austin said the matter was reported at Mpape Police Station by Abubakar who lived at Katampe area of Mpape, Abuja, on Nov. 24.
He said the offence contravened the provisions of Section 288 of the Penal Code.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Judge, Mr Salihu Ibrahim, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N250, 000 with one surety in like sum.
Ibrahim adjourned the case until Dec. 15 for further hearing.
