Oyo signage agency warns against indiscriminate erection of billboards

The Oyo State Signage and Advertisement Agency(OYSAA) on Wednesday warned commercial advertisers against indiscriminate erection of billboards and pasting of posters across the state.

The Director-General of OYSAA, Mr Temilola Adibi, gave the warning while speaking with newsmen on the activities of the agency in Ibadan.

OYSAA was established to regulate, control and administer advertisement placement in the state.

The agency had also been empowered to check indiscriminate erection of billboards on roads across the state and also ensure strict adherence to specifications and high ethical standards.

Adibi said the agency was working toward transforming the state’s outdoor space for beautification in a way that it would attract investors.

He said a sensitisation campaign was going on across the state to intimate the general public, especially illegal commercial advertisers, on the need to stop indiscriminate billboards erection and posters pasting.

The director-general also said that the agency was yet to accredit mobile stickers consultants, adding that those employed by the past administration had been laid off.

“So if there is anyone or group of persons outside there selling stickers or carrying out other activities on behalf of the agency , they are fake and we implore people to report such groups or individuals to us or law enforcement agencies.” Adibi said (
