Former Abia State Governor, was unusually sober on Thursday morning after he was sentenced to 12 years in prison.
The Federal High Court in Lagos convicted the politician and businessman who was charged with N7.1bn fraud.
After the sentence was given, he was heard praying to the warder not to handcuff him.
“Where are you taking us to?” ‘The Punch’ quotes him as saying.
“Where are you taking us to now? Please don’t handcuff me. I will follow you,” he pleaded.
Kalu’s associate, Udeogu, was sentenced to 10 years in prison while the company which was used in perpetrating the fraud, Slok Limited, was ordered to be wound up by Justice Idris Mohamm
