A 21-year-old man, Muiz Jimoh, was on Tuesday arraigned at an Ota Magistrates’ Court in Ogun for allegedly assaulting one man.

Jimoh, of no fixed address, is facing a charge of assault.

The prosecutor, Mr Abdulkareem Mustapha, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on Dec.7 at 8.30 a.m., at Ayotoro Itele area of Ota in Ogun.

Mustapha said that the defendant assaulted the complainant, Kolawole Olamide, by punching him in his upper lip which caused him serious injury.

The prosecutor said that the offence contravened Section 355 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ogun, 2006.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The magistrate, Mrs O. U. Ojelade, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum.

She ordered that the sureties must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and be gainfully employed with evidence of tax payment to Ogun Government.

Ojelade adjourned the case until Jan.9, 2020 for further hearing.
