The Federal Government has ordered the release of two prominent detainees, Omoyele Sowore and Sambo Dasuki.
This is coming amid agitation against the continued detention of Sowore, convener of the RevolutionNow protest.
The Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mr. Abubakar Malami (SAN), said on Tuesday that he had directed the Department of State Security Services to release the duo.
Dasuki was the National Security Adviser during the Jonathan administration.
It is however not clear yet how long it will take the authorities to carry out the order as some documentation would be done.
In recent days, human rights activists, the media and other stakeholders have particularly faulted the continued detention of Sowore after the court has ordered his release.

Among other media, ‘The PUNCH’ had tackled President Muhammadu Buhari by reverting to his ‘General’ title while also dubbing its government ‘regime’ in its reports.
This sparked commendation, attack and controversy, with ‘Daily Trust’ carrying an editorial against ‘The Punch’.
With the expected release of Sowore and Dasuki, agitation by followers of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria, Ibrahim El-Zakzakky, is likely to increase as he too has been delayed longer than thy expect.
