The people of Orin Ekiti now live in fear as they allege some herdsmen are scheming to take over a part of their community.
They said they were alarmed when they saw a red flag hoisted by the herdsmen, asking the natives to keep off.
The people protested on Saturday, carrying placards and asking the government to intervene.
Two of their leaders, Bamidele Fasuyi and Kayode Omotoso, stressed that the people were scared.
“They want to displace the people. They even killed one of our men,” Fasuyi said.
The state government, however, said there was no cause for alarm.
The Commissioner for Information, Muyiwa Olomilua, said the people had not informed the authorities before protesting.
“Nothing has happened in Ekiti that warrants that kind of protest,” he said.
