The defendants, Bayo Aderemi, 22; Damilola Onatola, 21 and Saheed Suleimon, 19, whose addresses were not provided, are facing a two-count charge of assault and conspiracy.

The prosecutor, Insp Abdulkareem Mustapha, told the court that the defendants and others still at large, committed the offences on Nov. 21 at about 6 p.m. at Toll-Gate area, Dalemo, Ota.

Mustapha said that the defendants and their accomplices assaulted the complainant, Akinwale Olatunde by pushing him into a drain, causing him an injury on his right leg.

He said the offences contravened Sections 335 and 516 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ogun, 2006.

They, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The magistrate, Mr Mathew Akinyemi, granted each of the defendants bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties each in like sum.
