some 20 people were killed around Vinikling Bridge (Hayin Gada) in Yola, Adamawa State on Tuesday when a trailer loaded with yam produce crushed the commercial tricycles they were in.
eyewitnesses said the trailer was being pursued by a police truck after the driver allegedly refused to give them bribe.
Neither the police nor any other relevant agency has however given an official position on the matter.
bUT Daily Post reported that some residents of the community said the police told them they were chasing the truck driver for carrying goods suspected to be foreign rice.
