The police on Thursday arraigned a 42-year-old carpenter, Abiodun Igbasan
in an Okitipupa Chief Magistrates’ Court in Ondo State over theft of two house doors valued at N60,000.
The defendant, whose address was not provided, was charged with two count charge bordering on breach of peace and stealing.
The Prosecuting Counsel, Insp. Ayodeji Omoyeigha, told the court that Igbasan conducted himself in a manner likely to cause breach of peace
on Sept. 2 around 8.30 p.m. at No. 32, Oba Ayelomi Street, Okitipupa in Okitipupa Magisterial District.
He added that the defendant stole two doors in an uncompleted building belonging to one Jeremiah Adeniyi.
The prosecuting counsel added that the offences contravened sections 249(d) and 390(9), Criminal Code, Cap.37, Vol.1, Laws of Ondo State 2006.
However, the defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges against him and the Chief Magistrate, Mr Dickson Ogunfuyi, granted him bail in the sum of N100,000 and a surety in like sum.
Ogunfuyi ordered that the surety must provide evidence of one year tax clearance paid to the state government and adjourned hearing in the matter until
Dec. 4.
