A teenager, Monday Ejoor, has pleaded guilty to stealing some belongings of a woman, Mary Oguche.
The Police on Monday charged Ejoor before an Ojo Magistrates’ Court in Lagos for allegedly stealing of a bag containing jewellery and other items worth N80,000
Ejoor is standing trial on three-count charge of conspiracy, stealing and causing breach of the peace.
The defendant pleaded guilty to the charges.
The Magistrate, Mr A.A Adesanya, adjourned the case until Oct. 25 for review of facts and sentencing.
The Prosecutor, Insp. Simon Uche, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on Sept. 24
Uche said that the defendant conspired with others now at large to snatch the bag from a complainant, one Mary Oguche, around Ojo area of Lagos.
According to him, the bag contained a Samsung Phone valued N20, 000, cash of N20, 000 and jewellery valued at N40,000.
He said that the defendant also committed a “breach of the peace” by conducting himself in an unruly manner and causing chaos around the Franklas area of Ojo on same day.
The offences contravene Sections 166, 285, and 409 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the offence of stealing carries a penalty of seven years imprisonment if convicted.
