Taraba State Governor, Darius Ishaku, did away with official diplomacy on Tuesday when he described Nigeria as a sleeping giant.
Most of the other ruling political leaders practically gave the country a passmark while saying it was on its way to recovery.
But Ishaku, in an interview on the country’ 59th Independence anniversary, said it was a matter of shame that it lacked development in every area.
He said all the countries with which it launched out had made visible progress but Nigeria remained in a pitiable state.
“It is a shame we are still lagging behind,” he said in the interview with Channel Television.
“Nigeria is only 59 years old, it is not 59 years mature,” he added.
