Sri Lankan President, Maithripala Sirisena, on Monday embarked on an official visit to Japan to attend the enthronement ceremony of Japanese Emperor Naruhito, his office said in a statement.
Sirisena was billed to join other world leaders for the ceremony scheduled for Tuesday in Tokyo.
He was also expected to hold discussions with the Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, as well as several Heads of different states participating in the official ceremony.
The visit, however, is Sirisena’s third official visit to Japan since assuming duty.
