The Nigerian Army has challenged Senator Ali Ndume to provide evidence to back his claim that 847 soldiers have been killed by Boko Haram since 2013.
Ndume had said on Tuesday that the Senate Committee he headed had found out the level of assaults the military had suffered during its visit to Maiduguri.
Ndume also claimed that the committee meant soldiers buried in the military hospital in Maiduguri alone, as their search did not cover other places.
But the Nigerian Army’s spokesperson, Sagir Musa, dismissed the claim asking the Borno-born senator to prove the killings.
“If he says so, then he should substantiate. What is his source? Let him provide it,” TheCable quoted him as saying.
