Senior Pastor of Daystar Christian Centre in Lagos, Sam Adeyemi, has said that it amounts to propaganda to claim that churches have money.
Rather, he said, most church leaders in Nigeria lacked financial management skills.
According to the cleric, many of these churches spend money without proper monitoring and records.
During a news conference organised by the Christian Financial Accountability Association (CFAA) in Lagos, Adeyemi said that people saying churches had money were only spreading misleading information.
“Most of the leaders of these churches don’t have financial management skills.
“When people say churches have money, it is propaganda. At least 75 per cent of churches have less than 100 members.

“It is very little money they manage and out of that little money, they take care of widows and people who do not have, he said.
Also, Adeyemi said that CFAA was dedicated to help christian organisations promote ethics of accountability, and financial growth.
“When these organisations are helped, even their finances will be better,” he added.
CFAA exists to educate and strengthen the capacity of the Church through role modelling, influence the standards of governance & financial accountability, and shift culture.
