A 22-year-old security guard, Musa Usman, on Friday appeared in a Karu Magistrate’s Court, Abuja, for allegedly cheating his employer.
The police charged Usman, who resides in Karu, Abuja with three counts of criminal breach of trust, cheating and criminal misappropriation.
The Prosecution Counsel, Vincent Osuji, told the court that the complainant, Ben Okechukwu, of the CBN Quarters Karu, Abuja reported the matter at the Karu Police Station, on Aug. 17.
He alleged that in 2015, the defendant was employed as a security guard in a house belonging to the late Gen. Abubakar Yusuf, which was meant for sale.
He also informed the court that he went to the apartment for routine check, only to discover that the defendant had dishonestly rented the apartment for N490,000, and converted the money to his personal use.
The offence, he said, contravened the provisions of sections 314, 322 and 309 of the Penal Code.
After the charge was read to him, he pleaded not guilty.
The judge, Anas Isah, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N200,000, with two sureties.
Isah adjourned the case until Sept. 12 for hearing.
