The police in Lagos on Tuesday arraigned a 24-year-old commercial motorcyclist, Emmanuel Ezeora, who allegedly drove against traffic.
Ezeora, who resides on Odunsi Street, Bariga, Lagos, is facing a count charge of dangerous driving before an Ogudu Magistrates’ Court, but he pleaded not guilty.
The Prosecutor, Insp. Donjour Perezi, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on Aug. 30 at 8.30a.m. at Berger Bus Stop, Iyana-Oworo, Oworonshoki, Lagos.
Perezi said that the defendant willfully drove a Twinko motorcycle with registration number JBD 438 DC against traffic, on a public highway.
He said that the offence violated Schedule 1, Item 13(1) of Lagos State Traffic Law, 2012.
Also, a 30-year old woman, Caroline Iheanacho, appeared before the same court over alleged obstruction of a public officer from performing his lawful duty.
Iheanacho, who is facing a count charge, however, pleaded not guilty.
Perezi said that Iheanacho obstructed Sgt. David Iyeh, attached to Oworonshoki Division, from performing his lawful duty.
He told the court that the offence violated Section 117 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The alleged offence attracts a three-years jail term or N200, 000 fine.
The Magistrate, Mrs Bukola Mogaji, granted Ezeora and Iheanacho bail in the sum of N50, 000 each with two sureties each in like sum.
Mogaji adjourned both cases to Oct. 7 for mention.
