A Magistrate’s Court in Oredo, Edo State, has sentenced a 30-year-old man, Udo Philip, to a one-year prison term for stealing a micro-wave machine worth N25,000.

Udo, who had appeared before Magistrate Ivie Akhere, faced a two-count charge of stealing and intent to commit felony.

Mr Patrick Agbonifo, the Police Prosecutor, had told the court that the offences were punishable under sections 411 and 390 of the Criminal Code of the defunct Bendel State, now applicable in Edo.

Agbonifo alleged that Udo broke into the residence of one Uche Paul located at Okpiawele Street in the GRA of Benin on August 30th, 2019, where he stole the machine.

He said that Udo was arrested by the Police and subsequently charged to court.

Presiding Magistrate, Akhere, sentenced Udo to one year imprisonment without an option of fine.
