A 27-year-old man, Monday Otubo, is now facing the law for allegedly beheading his mother in Ebonyi State.
He has consequently been remanded by a Magistrates’ Court sitting in Abakaliki, with the mother’s name given as Comfort Otubo.
While the offense was said to have been committed on September 22, Otubo was arraigned on September 23.
According to the police prosecutor, Inspector Mbam Chinedu, the court that the offence is punishable under Section 319 (1) of the Criminal Code, Cap 33, Vol. 1, Laws of Ebonyi State of Nigeria, 2009.
The charge read, “That you, Monday Otubo, ‘on September 22, 2019, at Ndufu Amaezekwe, Ezza South LGA, under the jurisdiction of this honourable court, did unlawfully kill by beheading one Comfort Otubo with machete.”
