The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has commenced the ember months special patrol operation to reduce road traffic crashes.
Mr Bisi Kazeem, the Corps Public Education Officer, made this known in Abuja on Wednesday.
He said that with the commencement of the special patrol operations, the Corps Marshal had directed commanding officers to ensure total coverage of the highways through effective patrol operations.
Other means, Kazeem said is through sustained public enlightenment campaigns, aggressive traffic control, prompt removal of obstructions on the highways and prompt rescue services to save lives of crash victims.
While lamenting over the accident which occurred on the Nasarawa-Eggon-Akwanga highway on Sept. 16, Kazeem said that it was unfortunate.
“It is unfortunate that the country lost such number of its population to road traffic crashes at this particular time when efforts have been intensified by both Government and FRSC to make our roads safe.
“These strategic deployments of personnel are expected to make the highways safe and reduce to the barest minimum incidences of crashes,” he said.
