Five things you can still buy with N5

The Nigerian economy is an ironic one. Indeed, it is paradox incorporated. While poverty is widespread, coins have practically gone into extinction. Even lower denominations such as N5 and N10 are almost as good as blank papers.

Where the irony really looms large is that in strong economic such as the UK’s and France’s the lowest coin is treated like a jewel because it still buys its owner some things.

Interestingly, however, rare as they are, there are still some things that the poor N5 can buy – well, depending on the location.

Here are five of them:

Banana chew gum

Zoro sweet

A cube of seasoning (maggi)

A pencil

Kulikuli.
