Yesterday, he was the deadliest god on the Abuja-Kaduna Road.
But, today, he is hibernating in police custody, singing like an embattled canary.
His name is Bello Audu ’Yellow’, who, according to the police, is the mastermind of kidnappings on the road that has become an anxiety trap for many people.
Speaking in Hausa in a video recording, he confessed to more than 50 kidnappings and killings as well as receiving ransoms as much as N10m. The father of five whose gang members are in police custody, was arrested by the Intelligence Response Team (IRT) of the police.
He noted, “My name is Dala Audu, I’m 40 years old. I have two wives and five children. I have collected ransom up to N10 million – sometimes N700,000, N600,000 and N900,000,” he said.
”We operate on Abuja road up to refinery in Kaduna. We bought AK 47s from Alhaji Turowa who is at Kajuru (local government area of Kaduna state).
”We have killed many people.”
