The Vicar/Archdeacon, Diocese of Ife, Ven. Soji Ogunyimika, on Thursday, asked Christians where they would spend their eternity.
Ogunyimika asked this rhetorical question at the funeral service of Prof. Adewumi Adesoji at St Paul’s Anglican Church, Ayegbaju, Ile-Ife.
According to him, if this world is the only hope for Christians, it means that they are the most miserable ones, as many people living on earth do not think that they would die one day.
The cleric charged Christians to know that eternity was being prepared for them, and urged them to know that this world was not worthy of emulation.
He charged them to be fully prepared that “the second coming of the Lord Jesus Christ is fast approaching and nearer than they believe”.
“Death is not the end of life, but a key to two doors either hell or eternity.
“The day of the Lord will come like a thief at night in which there will be a great shout, when there will be end to everything,” he said.
Ogunyimika reminded all and sundry that all would stand still on the day of judgement to receive the reward of their deeds either good or bad.
According to him, everyone should work here on earth for where he or she will spend his or her eternity, and also do good so that they can have rest on the last day.
The deceased, who died at the age of 66 years, was a lecturer at the Faculty of Education, University of Ibadan.
