A trader, Lateef Raheem, accuses of stabbing a woman with a broken bottle on Monday appeared in an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court, Lagos.
The police charged Raheem, 21, who resides in Mushin area of Lagos, with four counts of breach of peace, violence, assault and attempted murder.
He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Prosecutor, Insp. Edet Akadu, told the court that Raheem committed the offence on July 29, at No. 18, Aganran Ojuwoye St., Mushin in Lagos.
He said the defendant stabbed the complaint, Rukayat Aganran, on the head and parts of her body with a broken bottle, when she tried to intervene in a dispute among a group of people.
The prosecutor said that Aganran was rushed to the hospital for treatment.
The offence, he said, contravened the provisions of sections 173, 168, 56 and 230 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.
The Section 173 stipulates a three-year jail term for offenders.
Magistrate K.O. Ogundare admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N100, 000 with one surety in like sum.
Ogundare adjourned the case untill Oct. 21, for mention.
