A 52-year-old man, Emmanuel Ikhine, has reportedly confessed to raping his daughter whom he has eventually impregnating.
Ikhine’s case is another one that has kept many observers talking, as incidents of daughter molestation by some fathers has become largely rampant.
He has been arresting by the Ogun State Police Command as he allegedly committed the crime in the Ota area when he lives with the 16-year-old daughter and his two male siblings.
The Public Relations Officer of the Ogun State Police Command, Abimbola Oyeyemi, said Ikhinne has made a confessional statement and said he had been raping the daughter since he separated from his wife.
Oyeyemi said, “The Divisional Police Officer, Sango Ota, Godwin Idehai, a Chief Superintendent of Police(CPS), detailed his detectives to the scene where the randy father was promptly arrested.
“On interrogation, he made a confessional statement that he has been having carnal knowledge of the victim long before now since he has separated with his wife.
“The victim who claimed to be the only girl among the three children of her father explained how the suspect has been sleeping with her whenever her two brothers are not around with threat, but when she can not bear it, she reported to their neighbour who brought her to the station to report.
“The victim was taken to general hospital where it was confirmed that she is already pregnant for her father.
“The Commissioner of Police, Bashir makama has directed that the suspect should be transferred to anti-human trafficking and child labour unit of the state criminal investigation and intelligence department for further investigation and prosecution.”
A concerned neighbour, whose name is given as Yemisi Asade, was said to have reported the case to the police after the victim narrated her ordeal to her.
Many people are condemning the act, especially on social media.
