Some livestock dealers in Enugu, have decried low patronage ahead of the Eid-el-Kabir,
The dealers, who spoke at the Artisan Livestock Market, said that the low turnout of buyers was very discouraging.
Alhaji Danladi Abubakar, the Chairman, Artisan Livestock Market, said that the market bubbled with more activities in 2018 when compared to the current state of things.
“We have rams of different sizes and prices, our worry is the low patronage, and we have just a few hours to the festival.
“As we have it today, it is very worrisome, we pray, however, that things may change very quickly,” he said.
Abubakar blamed the low patronage on the economic realities in the country, adding, “I think that the low level of sales is because people do not have money”.
Another seller, Alhaji Muhammed Umar, said that the realities in the market was radically different from that of 2018.
“People are coming into the market and leaving without buying any ram; we are not here for jokes, we are here for business.
“Our prayer is that the situation changes quickly so that business can pick up, we want to see people buying rams, so that the festival will be well celebrated,” he said.
