An Islamic leader and some less privileged living around Isheri-Olofin community area of Ogun have lauded Nigeria Tulip International College (NTIC) for distributing meat on Sunday for them to partake in the Sallah celebration.
The Chief Imam and Chaplain, Islamic Education and Faith Initiative, Magodo, Imam Abdusemiu Alkilany, appreciated the college for being worthy and committed to their method of preaching peace and harmony.
“Firstly, we have to appreciate Allah for keeping us alive to witness another Sallah and the NTIC for being worthy and committed to their own way of preaching peace and harmony .
“I have known NTIC for the past 15 years and they are not the type that discriminate whether you are a Muslim or Christain and that shows the peculiarity in their school system.
“As at today, I have yet to see any foreign or Islamic-oriented institution that is so committed to this type of gesture, and so it is a good kudos to them,” he said.
According to him, such gesture shows that humanity, the creator and provider is one and there is no need to segregate between Christains, Muslims and even the free thinkers.
Alkilany also lauded other Islamic or local education institutions that were capable to also follow suit and give back to society, especially the needy in their little way.
Mr Gabriel Ohore, Educator, Chrisland Schools Ltd, also commended the charity of the school and noted that it was assisting the indigents to have a memorable Sallah.
“I am a friend of the college and I’ve been coming for this event since five years ago because of the love I have for the school .
“I can testify that the gesture has been supporting so many indigent families to enjoy the Sallah celebration over the years,” he said.
Mrs Toma Adamu, living around Isheri-Olofin, expressed her joy for being a beneficiary of the gesture and wished the school goodluck in all its endeavours.
“This is my second year of benefiting from this meat distribution and it has been helping me to enjoy Sallah with my husband and three children.
“I wish the school goodluck and pray that God continues to assist them too,” she said.
The Principal of the College, Mr Ercan Yilmaz, said 90 cows were slaughtered for the charity programme at the NTIC, Ogun branch, while similar number or more were also slaughtered in other zones across the country.
Yilmaz said beneficiaries of the gesture which cut across all faiths included orphanages, prison, staff of government establishment, mosques, churches and disabled people’s homes.
“Just as in previous years, we are reaching out to people of different faiths to share in the joy of the occasion, this is to enable such people to be part of the festivity of Sallah period.
“Just as we do for Sallah, we also do for Christmas and Ramadan,” he said.
Yilmaz prayed that Nigerians united across all divides to make the country and the world a peaceful and happy flourishing entity for both the strong, weak, rich, poor, Muslims and non-Muslims alike.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the college began the charity over a decade ago and slaughtered 80 cows in 2018.
