Agitation by members of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria, also known as Shiites, took another dimension on Tuesday as they shot a police officer and a civil defence officer.
This happened when they stormed the House of Assembly Complex in Abuja, where they protested the continued detention of their leader, El Zakky Zakky.
They were said to have overpowered the policemen at the gate, collected one of their guns and shot the two security operatives.
According to reports, they entered the main entrance popularly known as MOPOL gate and vandalised the gatehouse.
They also burnt three vehicles and destroyed many others.
