The police on Monday arraigned an ex-convict, Muritala Usman, in a Grade I Area court in Mpape, Abuja for allegedly received stolen mattresses.
The police charged Usman, whose address was not provided, with receiving stolen properties.
The Prosecution Counsel, Mr M. Austine told the court that the defendant was arrested at the Mpape Police station.
He alleged that on July 8, the defendant was arrested while attempting to sale stolen mattresses.
Austine alleged a court had convicted Usman for the same crime.
The offence, he said, contravened the provisions of Section 199 of the Penal Code.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Judge, Salihu Ibrahim, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N200,000 with one reasonable surety in like sum.
He adjourned the case until Aug. 6 for hearing.
