Brazilian police investigating the rape allegation against Paris Saint-Germain striker, Neymar, have closed the case over lack of evidence.

A Brazilian model, Najila Trindade, had accused the 27-year-old forward of raping her at a hotel in Paris, France in May.

Prosecutors will now have 15 days to assess the police’s findings, and the final decision will be made by a judge.

It was alleged that Neymar arrived drunk at her hotel, the Sofitel Paris Arc de Triomphe, before he violently raped her.

Neymar denied the accusation and said it was a setup.

In June, he posted a seven-minute video in which he insisted the allegations were false.

“There was a relationship between a man and a woman between four walls.
“Anyone who knows me, knows of my behavior, knows that I would never do something like that,” he said.

The forward is also being investigated by police in Rio de Janeiro for publishing images of his accuser on social media without her permission, along with WhatsApp messages they exchanged.

Neymar is currently on a pre-season in Asia with PSG.
