The police on Monday arraigned eight staff of Miami Hotel, Karu, Abuja, in a Karshi Grade I Area Court, Abuja, for allegedly constituting nuisance and disturbing public peace.

The police charged Iheme Christian, Ezekiel Albert, Lilian Samson, Caleb Isaac, Okpe Jerome, Victor Ekpeyong, Ezike Agada and Daniel Danbaba, with four counts of joint act, disturbing public peace, criminal force and causing grievous hurt.

The Prosecution Counsel, Ayotunde Adeyanju, told the court that the defendants were arrested on June 5, following a distress call from guests at the hotel that some hoodlums had invaded the hotel..

“Instead of waiting for the arrival of the policemen to calm the situation,the defendants engaged in physical combat with the hoodlums.

‘`In the process also, they inflicted injury on a guest, Ms Hajara Isah,” Adeyanju said.

He said that the offence contravened the provisions of sections 79, 113, 265 and 246 of the Penal Code.

The judge, Anas Isah, admitted the defendants to bail in the sum of N200,000 each with one surety each in like sum.

Isah adjourned the case until July 16 for hearing.
