Twenty-one year after the death of military dictator, Maj General Sanni Abacha, another batch of his loot has been found.
Monies translated to hundreds of billions have been discovered in various parts of the world and returned to the Federal Government.
But in a fresh disclosure, the Channels Island government has seized money valued at £211,000,000 in a Jersey bank account which, according to reports, Abacha laundered through Europe.
The money, about N82bn, was put in accounts held in Jersey by Doraville Properties Corporation, a British Virgin Islands company.
“The money is now being held by the government until authorities in Jersey, the US and Nigeria come to an agreement on how it should be distributed,” a report added.
The unending nature of discoveries of Abacha’s stolen fund is now confounding analysts as they wonder how he stole all the huge amounts buried in various banks.
In nasty jokes, some wonder how the country yet remained on its feet while he stole all the cash.
Another issue in the Abacha matter, however, is that there are indications that the billions returned to various Nigerian administration were not conscientiously manages.
